Expect Nothing…

Like any other thing, “expectations” are everywhere — in this picture too!

There is one thing that I always ask myself and that is “How to be happy?”. What is the thing that would make me happy, is it buying a new car, is it earning more money or is it being loved by people? I never get an answer to this question but I know one thing for sure that all of these things can definitely give happiness to me or probably to anyone else too. But, then I realized that I know people who have all of these and are still not happy. And by saying this, I don’t mean that I don’t want all these things in life. I mean who doesn’t want to earn a handsome amount of money, or buy a big house or probably get the most luxurious car.

As humans we have this ability to think, and with that ability to think, comes the “expectations”. And the moment we start expecting something, everything changes. We start to develop these belief that things will fall in our plate at a point of time and in a way we have assumed for them. But, unfortunately in the real life things don’t really work like that. I mean working hard, wishing, praying and being optimistic for the things to be the way we want them to be is fine, but the moment we start expecting them to happen at a certain time and way that we think is right, that’s when things start to mess up.

I have realized this myself and have learned the hard way that the more we expect the more disappointed we are when things don’t actually happen the way we wanted them to. For instance, you are in a traffic jam and you are “expecting” the traffic to clear soon, but when it doesn’t you get disappointed, right? Expectation are more or less a possible outcome that we wish to foresee. And when that outcome is no longer a future possibility we get disappointed.

And as you are reading this you might be expecting an ending to this post or a solution to this problem.

So, don’t expect…
